Mercedes Nicole Baker

Hi there!

I’m Mercedes Baker, an attorney by trade and artist by design.

Based in Franklin, Tennessee, I split my time between case files and canvases. Outside of the courtroom, I enjoy trading the order of law for the chaos and mess of the art world. 

While in law school, I sought a creative outlet that didn’t live behind a computer screen. That search led me to impasto-style painting with heavy body acrylics. What started as an escape quickly became a teacher, helping me grow in ways that complemented the discipline of law: learning to embrace imperfection, to be patient with progress, and to find calm in the mess.

Through my work, I hope to spark joy and curiosity, inviting you to see the world through my eyes. My paintings feature bright colors and rich textures that reflect the chaos of life. By experimenting with layers and depth, this artistic journey has become a reminder to slow down, stay present, and keep curiosity close.
